ELCSD begins 1:1 Initiative: Students in Grades 2-12 to be issued Chromebooks!

The East Liverpool City School District is very excited to announce our 1:1 Chromebook initiative for all students in grades 2-12. The Board of Education approved a Technology Policy that will be distributed to students and parents with the deployment of the Chromebook 1:1 Initiative. This learning opportunity will supply each student in grades 2-12 with a Chromebook for their educational use. Students at The East Liverpool Junior/Senior High will be issued Chromebooks for use in school and at home starting in August 2017. Students in Grades 2 - 6 will have Chromebooks for use during his/her school day.  The 1:1 Chromebook deployment has been completeed at the elementary and middle school levels.

Teachers will continue to utilize G Suite for Education as a learning management tool in our classrooms.  Learn more about Google in the classroom by clicking this link: Google for Education 101 .

Chromebooks are laptop devices designed to be used primarily while connected to the Internet to utilize applications and documents “in the cloud”.  This integration of technology will enhance opportunities for student research or even project-based learning both in-class and at-home.

The ELCSD 1:1 initiative will:

●    Expand and enhance educational opportunities for students

●    Encourage integration of 21st century technology skills throughout the learning process

●    Use G Suite for Education Applications as the foundation for collaboration, transforming instruction and learning

Providing students with the access to resources using their own device will allow them to have access to resources outside of the classroom walls during the traditional school day. Students will be able to collaborate with their peers through tools such as Google Docs, Classroom, Sheets, Slides, Gmail, and Hangouts. These tools will also enable students to create, access, manage, integrate, and evaluate information in all subject areas.

Parent and Student informational meetings will be held in August 2017, allowing families an opportunity to learn more about our 1:1 Initiative for the 2017/2018 School Year.
